The WaveDriver® 200 Integrated Bipotentiostat/Galvanostat with EIS, released in Fall 2018, has been engineered to provide you with the essential hardware and software features you need, without all the unnecessary aspects that do little more than drive up the cost.  The WaveDriver 200 is the next all-purpose electrochemical workstation for your lab, providing both traditional DC (cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, rotating and corrosion methods) and AC (EIS) methods.  The WaveDriver 200 RRDE Bundle with WaveVortex 10 Rotator combines the most common setup to start performing RDE research, out of the box.  Key features of the WaveDriver 200 are as follows:

  • Integrated bipotentiostat:  Two working electrode channels to a common counter and reference electrode, simple cable connections, no adapters required
  • Applied/Measured Current:  ±20 pA to ±1 A
  • Applied/Measured Voltage: ±15 V (three ranges, ±2.5 V, ±10 V, and ±15 V)

The WaveDriver® 200 Integrated Bipotentiostat/Galvanostat with EIS, released in Fall 2018, has been engineered to provide you with the essential hardware and software features you need, without all the unnecessary aspects that do little more than drive up the cost.  The most complete electrochemical workstation offered by Pine Research, the WaveDriver 200 is an affordable benchtop bipotentiostat/galvanostat system, which unlike other “bipotentiostats” in the market, is truly a bipotentiostat circuit by design.  We call this unique product an “Integrated Bipotentiostat,” meaning the bipotentiostat is ready to use out of the box, the cell cable has independent electrode leads for the 1st and 2nd working electrodes (no messy cable configurations necessary), and no additional accessories/connectors or adapters are required to perform true bipotentiostat experiments like rotating ring-disk analysis of electrocatalysts.  Further, the WaveDriver 200 finds use across a wide variety of applications, due to its large current range from ±20 pA up to ±1 A, large voltage range up ±15 V, advanced input, output, and waveform filters, iR compensation, and EIS up to 1 MHz.

While electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is not a new method in the electrochemical science community, it is a new offering from Pine Research.  Our talented team of engineers and chemists have taken a careful approach at integrating EIS into our WaveDriver series potentiostats.  The WaveDriver series has been heavily used in research, industry, and education since 2012 and has been recognized by notable researchers in the field as a strong instrument for DC electrochemistry.  The WaveDriver 200 builds upon the solid performance of the WaveDriver 10/20 and adds the ability to perform AC electrochemical experiments, such as EIS.  Our software engineering team has implemented curve fitting directly into our AfterMath® software platform, which includes multiple algorithms and options to fit even the most troublesome data.

Pine Research wants to maximize the value of our instruments in your laboratory.  While you have many choices of EIS-capable potentiostats, we focused our development efforts to encompass your feedback and offer a cost-effective, yet powerful system to accomplish nearly any electrochemical task in your lab.  The unique features of the WaveDriver 200 are summarized below.

Cost-Competitive.  Take a look around at similar bipotentiostat/galvanostat systems and you will have a difficult time finding another with as comparable specifications and capabilities and price as the WaveDriver 200.  The price of the WaveDriver 200 is similar to that of other brands, which offer you a single channel potentiostat for a similar price.  We understand the challenge and competition to secure funding and have worked hard to cut out unnecessary costs from the WaveDiver 200.   The WaveDriver 200 also includes a four-option dummy cell for calibration checking and instrument function testing at no additional cost.

Integrated Curve Fitting and Analysis.  Our software team has seamlessly integrated curve fitting into AfterMath, a software lauded by many as one of the easiest to use and versatile electrochemical instrument software on the market.  Why work across more than one software application to fit your EIS data when you can do it in the same program which was used to acquire the data?  AfterMath EIS curve fitting utilities provide several analyses, including Circuit Fit, Transmission Line, and Kramers-Kronig.  Unlike others, our fitting software also provides several fitting methods including Modified Levenberg-Marquardt (LM), Simplex, and Powell algorithms in addition to fitting options that include dynamic point selection, unity, and parametric fitting.

Novel Transmission Line Fitting.  AfterMath provides a unique approach to model your porous electrodes.  While the transmission line model is not new, AfterMath provides you with some unique transmission line fitting tools.  Instead of a static circuit, where you have no control over the elements of the model, we provide a very flexible basic model, from which you can customize nearly all aspects of the model to suit your system.  Give it a try – bring in your five-column EIS data directly into AfterMath and see the difference with our transmission line fitting.

Finishing Touches.  While fitting your EIS data, why flip back and forth between Nyquist and Bode plots?  Why not be able to view both plots and fits simultaneously?  We heard this feedback from many customers and have written AfterMath to provide you with both veiws of EIS data, simultaneously during fitting.  Draw your own circuits and save them in case we haven’t already provided you with our built-in circuits.
